Kate's Memorial Ride
In 2020 one of Hospice Halifax’s incredible nurses, Kate Mason, stepped forward with the idea to go on a memorial bike ride, and we are proud to say that Kate plans to repeat this amazing gesture again this year.
On October 7th, members of Hospice Halifax’s Care Team, led by Kate, will ride 128 kilometers along the Eastern Shore. That’s one kilometer for every patient that died at Hospice Halifax in our third year of operation! This is a big undertaking for our amateur cyclists, but they’re up for the challenge!
This year to make it even easier to follow along with the memorial ride, tune in to Seaside FM @ 105.9 FM from 7 AM to 5 PM.

“On any given day at Hospice, there is an intense mix of emotions but underneath it all is love. As a nurse at Hospice Halifax, I wanted to do something to commemorate and honor the patients I have cared for. This ride is deeply personal for me and will give me time to reflect as well as fundraise for hospice in place of our pre- COVID event schedule. This will be a challenge for me (because I am not an athlete!), but I know I’ll get the same love and support from the community that I get to experience every day at Hospice Halifax.”

You can participate in this year’s ride by sponsoring a KM or checking out the many other fun ways to participate like adding a song to her playlist, sponsoring her training routine, or having Kate start her ride in a turkey costume!
