Remember Your Loved Ones This Holiday Season With Light Up a Life
Light Up a Life is a cherished community event during the holiday season when we come together to honour our loved ones who have died by dedicating a glowing, beautiful light in their name.
When you dedicate a light, you’ll see your loved one’s name and photo projected on our Community Wall at Hospice Halifax. This light display serves as a reminder of their enduring presence in our hearts and the warmth we feel when we remember their legacy.
No matter where you are, who you have lost, or when your loss occurred, you are warmly invited to join us as we lovingly remember those we hold dear.
Please note: Lights donated after December 20, 2024, will not be included on this year’s Community Wall.
To have your dedication included in the Opening Night gathering on December 7, please submit your light by Wednesday, December 4 at 11:59 p.m. (AT).

Lighting Our Community Wall
This year, our community wall of lights will shine:
- Every night beginning December 7, 2024 and ending December 31, 2024
- From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Outdoors at Hospice Halifax | 618 Francklyn Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Each night, a light show displaying submitted names and photos will be projected onto the west side of the Hospice Halifax building.
When you visit our Light Up a Life community wall, you can expect a grief-safe space to be joined by others who are there to also honour and remember their loved ones.
Together you’ll see Hospice Halifax illuminated in hundreds of lights, knowing you’re with others who understand grief, and the importance of memory and love during the holidays.
Opening Night Gathering
The very first night of Light Up a Life is always special. When we come together to witness and remember our loved ones under the lights, there’s comfort in sharing the moment together. Amongst our many beautiful differences, we’re all experiencing love and we’re all experiencing loss.
On December 7, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. we’ll be holding a special gathering to mark the first lighting of the community wall. The evening will include a guided reflection, candle lighting, seasonal music, and warm beverages.
There will also be professional grief support volunteers ready to speak with you or bring you to a quiet space to offer comfort and an ear to listen.
We hope you can join us in coming together to remember our loved ones.

Our Community Wall will be filled with names and photos of loved ones. To include a photo, complete the following steps:
- Complete the donation form below. Include your loved one's name in the text box below your donation amount.
- Click the "Give Securely" button to enter your credit card information.
- Once your donation has been processed, you'll automatically be redirected a new page on our website to upload your photo.
- When you commit to an annual “infinity star”, your loved one's name and photo will be displayed on our Community Wall every year for Light Up A Life.
